Movie of the Week#120: CB4(1993)

"Straight Outta Locash
A crazy mothafucka named Gusto
I fucked ya wife, cause the bitch is a big hoe
I fucked ya sister, I fucked ya cat
I would have fucked ya mom but the bitch is too fat!"

Oh. My. Glob. This movie is so hilarious. For me, a fan of old hiphop like Public Enemy, Ice Cube, N.W.A, it was even three times more hilarious. I almost pissed my pants. Well, enough. Let's talk about the movie:
"CB4" stands for "Cell Block 4" and is a name of gangsta rap group coming from a city called Locash. Three young guys called Albert(Chris Rock), The Fat Boys simply didn't bring any success. But after the police arrest the drugdealing night club owner Gusto(Charlie Murphy) Albert has an awesome idea. He, Euripides and Otis will become a gangsta rap group. Kinda like N.W.A. The business is rolling and soon the three, now known as MC Gusto(Albert), Dead Mike(Euripides) and Stab Master Arson(Otis), become well-known superstars and a nightmare for a politician(Phil Hartman) who tries to bring them into jail for obscenity crimes. Also there are huge tensions within the group and the real Gusto is getting really angry cause of Albert who has stolen his identity while he was in jail. The story is told by Albert to a young director(Chris Elliott) who is making a documentary about CB4.
Euripides(Allen Payne) and Otis(Deezer D) were failing in having a rap career. Nothing worked. Dressing up as bohemians and parodying

Awesome parody of late 80ies/early 90ies mass hysteria about obscene music and gangsta rap. Also it brings in some self-criticism for the black community. Nice soundtrack. Cameos by Ice-T, Ice Cube and Butthole Surfers. Great mockery of MC Hammer. Hilarious over-the-top-humour. Sweet soundtrack.
