Comic Book Review#132: Scars Trade Paperback(2008)

Allright, it's the third international Week on "..,klar" and we start with a comic book review.

"Scars" is the story of John Caine. He is a cop, who's specialty are homicide cases. In his past, a very tragic incident happened. His pregnant girlfriend was killed in a drive-by-shooting. Since then, he is traumatized and finds only little happiness in life.

But then comes a day where the corpse of a young girl is found in three boxes in front of "children charity store". It's Tiffany Amber Paine's(11 years old) corpse. She was kidnapped a couple of months ago. Her parents almost lost the hope finding her. John is shocked. How could someone kill such a young human being? And even cut her in three pieces, while she were still alive? He starts an investigation and is obsessed about the case. By solving the case he wants to compensate the lost of his loved one. At the end of the book, we find out who the real monster is. John himself or the murderer....

Brilliant, intense story by Warren Ellis. Realistic and sometimes disgusting illustrations from Jacen Burrows. For fans of psychothriller movies and bloody gore comics.
