Movie of the week#142: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog(2008)

Hell yeah, that's actually the first time that I review a musical. Or the first time since years. I don't know. Anyway, I think it's pretty unusual, but not because of the gerne. But because "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog" stars sitcom-actors like Neil Patrick Harris(as Dr. Horrible) and Simon Helberg(as Moist) who also star in shows like "HIMYM" and "TBBT" which I really really dislike. Honestly, I just don't like their shows and therefore it's kinda obvious that I wouldn't like any of their other works.....but this thing here was really really awesome.

Billy(Neil Patrick Harris) is a Supervillain. His alter ego is called Dr. Horrible. He likes to dress up in "evil scientist"-type of clothes and most important is: he likes to videoblog about his evil plans. His goal is to join the "Evil Society of Evil". At the same time he falls in love with Penny(Felicia Day), a girl he met at the laundromat. But sadly he accidentally introduces her to his nemesis, the high school jock douchebag type superhero Captain Hammer(Nathan Fillion). After the incident Hammer and Penny fall in love which breaks Billys heart.

Will Dr. Horrible join the Evil Society of Evil? Will he finally conquer Pennys heart? Will the heartbroken Villain defeat the asshole Superhero? Joss Whedon("Buffy") and his filming crew present a pretty low budget musical which was made during the strike of the Writers Guild of America. A very cute story about a reverse relationship between a hero and a villain. Here the villain is the actual good guy, while the actual hero turns out to be a sex-crazed piece of shit. Very sympathetic and uncomplicated.
